“A system should never reduce the game to the point where it simply blames the players for failure because they did not physically overwhelm the opponent.” Bill Walsh
5 Wide Offense
Core pass plays to install
The 5 Wide Offense has 9 core pass routes/concepts.

They are shown below in the core 3x2 Empty formation, Tornado, for clarity.
The positions are labeled X, A, B, Z, W.

The initial design is X, Z, W are receivers and A and B are running backs.
However, it became apparent to me that it was better to use 10 personnel,
1 running back and 4 receivers, so A became another receiver with
B the only running back.

The XA are on the 2-receiver side. The BZW are on the 3-receiver side.
They stay in the same order of the formation for the install.
Later when different formations are added they can be moved in any order.

However, their routes in these 0-9 concepts ALWAYS remain the same.
For example, in the 0 route, X has a takeoff, A has a slant, B has a swing/bubble,
Z has a slant, and W has a post.
They will run that route no matter where the formation
puts them every time the 0 route is called.
