offensive line Drills
I learned that the best way to prepare an offensive lineman
to perform well is to always contact another lineman.

They need to get used to punching and fitting with their hands
and body in the right position on another person.
This can only be accomplished by working against another body.

I also believe that blocking technique should be done in
groups. Since in a play they all block at the same time,
I found it was important to not just coach
the footwork and contact for one guy in a drill,
but to do that in harmony with the OL guys on his side.
Otherwise, I had OL doing good footwork
but not in rhythm with the guy next to him.

I had the center and left side OL working blocking steps
and then the center, can be the 2nd team center,
and right side OL working blocking steps.

When one OL side was working, the other side served as
the defense. When the left side was working,
I had the RG over the LG, the ROT over the LOT,
and the 2nd team center over the 1st team center.
And vice versa when the right side OL was working.
That is the setup you will see in this drill video.

We worked drive steps, reach steps, scoop steps, and counter steps.
You can run any blocking scheme you have and coordinate
each OL's technique but get the timing of the scheme
coached as well doing it as a group.
