“A system should never reduce the game to the point where it simply blames the players for failure because they did not physically overwhelm the opponent.” Bill Walsh
play attack sheet for sideline
This is a sample ATTACK sheet I would use for the sideline to remind myself of the plays that worked best to ATTACK each defender's technique/responsibility.
Because I used it in practice as well, I basically had it memorized and could simply look at the defense, know the route that was on the sheet for each receiver and call that route, tag that player for the QB and get the play in without looking at the sheet.
I feel that is a much better way to call plays than looking at a sheet all the time. Watching how the defense reacts to the play called is significant in being able to call good plays and to fix the players when the play is not executed correctly.
So, I advise you to use your pass skeleton and team periods to memorize the opponent's defensive alignment to your formation, memorized the plays that attack that alignment, so on game day you can watch your plays, the defense's reaction, and be able to fix your players to play consistently well and then your play calls will work consistently well.
